The Nintendo Switch 2 has officially launched worldwide today, and gamers are going crazy for it. This new gaming console comes with a 7.9-inch display and upgraded Joy-Con 2 controllers. Compared to the old Switch, it’s a significant upgrade.
According to a Reuters report, due to high global demand, the Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to face shortages.
Key Features and Specifications
The Nintendo Switch 2 features a 7.9-inch LCD display that supports 1080p resolution. It also offers HDR10 and a refresh rate of up to 120fps. The console is 13.99mm thick—about the same as the original Switch.
It’s powered by a custom Nvidia processor paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Storage comes in at 256GB UFS, expandable up to 2TB via a microSD Express card.
The Joy-Con 2 controllers are now larger, and their special feature is that they can also work like a mouse. Simply attach the included accessory, place it on a flat surface, and you can move the mouse cursor.
Mario Kart World
Price and Availability
In the US, the Nintendo Switch 2 is priced at $499.99 (around ₹42,000). In India, however, it will cost between ₹58,000 and ₹65,000.
Since Nintendo has no official presence in India, the console will be available through unofficial channels starting June 8. Flipkart is already offering pre-orders for ₹2,999.
Gaming Performance and Battery
In TV mode, it outputs up to 4K at 60fps, and up to 120fps at 1080p or 1440p. In handheld mode, it supports resolutions up to 1080p.
The battery is a 5,220mAh unit that lasts between 2 and 6.5 hours. Charging takes around 3 hours.
Old Switch Joy-Cons and the Pro Controller will also work with the Switch 2. Game save data and digital games can also be transferred.
Alongside the Nintendo Switch 2, the Mario Kart World game has also been launched. The company estimates that 15 million units will be sold this year.
